Intro to Glassblowing: Two-day Workshop

AUD $950.00
  • Duration: 2 Days (approx.)
  • Location: Kingston, ACT

Spend your weekend in the Hotshop and learn the foundations of glassblowing under the guidance of a professional artist. In this two-day immersive experience, you’ll explore the art of shaping molten glass in a safe and supportive environment.

What to expect

Saturday & Sunday
10am – 4pm (with a break for lunch)
Ages 14+
No previous experience required

Over two full days on the Hotshop floor, you’ll be introduced to the essential techniques of glassblowing. With expert instruction, you'll learn to gather, blow, and shape glass to create simple yet beautiful objects such as baubles, paperweights, vessels, and free-form sculptures. No experience necessary—just bring your curiosity and a willingness to try something new.

What to bring

A water bottle and your enthusiasm!
Light, breathable layers—it gets hot in the Hotshop.
Fully enclosed shoes and clothing made from natural fibres (denim, wool, cotton, linen).
Long hair must be tied back.
If you wear glasses, please wear them instead of contact lenses.

There will be a lunch break each day. You’re welcome to bring your own lunch or explore local options nearby.

All tools, materials, and safety equipment will be provided.

What you'll make

Expect to walk away with a selection of your own handmade glass pieces. Participants typically create a variety of objects such as a bauble, bowl, cup, and small sculptural forms. You’ll also gain experience working collaboratively as a team in the Hotshop.

Please note: Due to the nature of working with glass, some pieces may crack or break during the annealing process. While we do our best to help you succeed, we can’t guarantee that every object will be safe to take home.

Collecting your work

Finished pieces will be ready for collection 48 hours after the workshop, during gallery shop hours (Wednesday to Sunday, 10am–4pm).

If you’re unable to pick up in person, postage is available—just add shipping when booking and include your address in the booking form or contact our team at Bookings@canberraglassworks.com.
