Neon 1: Beginners

Heat and stretch through the basics of authentic neon bending. Taught by David Cooper.
What to expect
Neon beginners is a 2-day workshop where participants will learn how to stretch, heat, and shape glass tubes into basic curves and forms. This course will introduce the basic principles of neon production and demonstrate each of the processes of Neon required to leave with a finished neon design to take home.
What to bring
Please bring a water bottle and your enthusiasm! This class has a break for lunch, you may bring your own or purchase lunch locally. You must wear fully closed shoes, natural fabric clothing, preferably non-synthetics, long hair pulled back. You must wear your prescription glasses over contact lenses. All materials and safety equipment for this class will be provided.
What you will make
You will make a bent neon sign, which will be bombarded with neon and ready to take home with you at the end of the workshop. You will receive a guide on how to care for your neon and a transformer to plug it in at home. Neon works made will be bombarded with neon gas - which emits red light.
Saturday and Sunday, 10am-4pm with a break for lunch
