With the freedom of your own designs, immerse yourself in cut & fused glass. Taught by Kirstie Rea.

What to expect
This class has been designed to guide participants through the basics of kiln formed glass, the materials required, tools and equipment used. A different process or technique associated with kiln forming will be introduced each week. Students will be asked to undertake some design work in preparation for each week and will have design freedom within each project.   

What to bring
Please bring a water bottle and your enthusiasm! You must wear fully closed shoes, natural fabric clothing, preferably non-synthetics, long hair pulled back. You must wear your prescription glasses over contact lenses. All materials and safety equipment for this class will be provided. 

What you will make
You will make a range of beautiful kiln formed works that explore the craft. From creating dynamic and colourful plates and flat works to slumped bowls and different shapes. There will be complete works after each session. They will be available for collection the following Wednesday after your class during our opening hours, Wednesday to Sunday 10am to 4pm from the Gallery shop.  

Duration: 8 Weeks, 5.30 to 8.00pm on Monday evenings
Term dates: Every Monday from 24 July to 11 September

Kirstie Rea established her glassmaking studio in 1987. Over the past three decades continued to develop her practice to become one of Australia’s most influential, successful and respected artists working in glass. Kirstie Rea has also taught internationally, at the Australian National University Glass Workshop; in the United States at Pilchuck Glass School, the Corning Studio, and Pittsburgh Glass Centre; North Lands Creative Glass in Scotland; and Vetroricerca School in Italy. In 2009, Kirstie was awarded Honorary Life Membership of Ausglass, the national organisation of Australian glass artists.
